June 25-July 1

It’s here. Rogers: The Musical has premiered! It has a very limited run from June 30 - August 31 so it is ONLY around for the summer. I’m hoping this will be considered a test run and will come back either here, maybe make an east coast premier, or both.

West coast! Here we go…

  1. Pacific Wharf bridge closes on June 26th as construction on continues on the San Fransokyo bridge. Both towers are now up. Construction should be complete soon.

  2. Owen Wilson, Jamie Lee Curtis, and LaKeith Stanfield all dressed up in Haunted Mansion cast member costumes and filmed some promotional stuff for their upcoming film called…you guessed it…Haunted Mansion. Not “The” Haunted Mansion. That’s the one with Eddie Murphy.

  3. Rogers: The Musical premiered! I happened to see a video of most of it from a preview show captured by Ordinary Adventures on YouTube. During the Q&A portion they were all evacuated but no one is sure why. There was a thought that it might have been related to the smoke used in the show.

  4. The Oogie Boogie Bash ticket sale fiasco. Technical issues abound it seems with the west coast parks. You can try again July 6th.

  5. Do you have a Disney Chase card? Do you want to stay at a Disneyland park hotel this summer? Then you get a discount! You can get up to 25% off through September 30th.

East coast!

  1. Governor Ron DeSantis files to get the Disney lawsuit against him dismissed. I suspect this won’t end well for him. Then he decided to ask to have the court date in August 2025 (which would be after the presidential election in which he is running in the Republican primary. I suspect he would want this because the theory is that a sitting president cannot be sued…at least while holding that office). Disney has asked for a date of July 2024.

  2. STITCH DAY! For those of you who don’t know (and I admit I was one of them until this year and this blog project!) Stitch Day refers to his number…626…and takes place on 6/26. Disney had special phone wallpapers. I used one myself. They also had Stitch out in MK doing meet-and-greets and special Stitch-themed food.

  3. Construction has metastasized from EPCOT into the nearby Hollywood Studios. I‘m starting to wonder if Disney likes construction as much as it likes celebrating.

  4. Tiana’s water tower for her ride is up!

  5. Tickets to see Cirque de Soleil’s Drawn to Life show now have discounts for the summer. Adults are now $59 and children $44. If you have seen the show The Dis reports that there have been new additions.

  6. This is big: Disney has an offer for up to 30% off some resort stays in Nov and Dec. This includes some resorts but not all. Even some of the top tier resorts like the Grand Floridian are included. WOW. Here is where you can get more info on which resorts are included, the dates, and the discounts.

  7. The Splash Mountain pressed penny machine has been taken away. There’s no turning back now.

  8. Two baby zebras were born! They look adorable.

  9. Construction for the EPCOT fireworks show has begun in the lagoon.

  10. Reports of the first Halloween merch is now showing up in the parks.

Abroad!

  1. Tokyo DisneySea have Donald Duck foot-shaped soap dispensers. Not as iconic and recognizable as the Mickey shape is but still cute.

  2. The sword in the stone will be removed from Hong Kong Disneyland soon, but it will be replaced by a statue of Walt and Mickey sitting on a bench together watching the carousel as it goes around. *I’m not crying, you’re crying.

  3. Disney Imagineering showed sneak peaks of the new Oaken ride at Hong Kong Disneyland which is slated to open a new Frozen-themed land this year.

Phew. We made it. See you next week.
